Just another Micra Adventure!

Well, on Friday night, Gayle and I decided to go to the last night of New Horizon and then stay over at Whitepark Bay. Edwin came too, and Gavin was already up there. We had a great time, even though the weekend was full of little adventures, but the best one was on Saturday morning. We were going for a walk along the beach, and put all our stuff in the car ... and ... well my keys were in my bag. I locked my keys in the car. In Portrush! Because it was going to take my mum a while to get there with the spare key, the weird woman in the youth hostel wouldn't let us back in and we didn't have enough money between us to get a bus (we only had what the boys found in their pockets) we walked about 3 miles to Balintoy, in the rain, and had lunch in a pub until mum got there with my key. Don't feel too sorry for my mum, though, she used the opportunity to buy a new bit of furniture!

Can I just make the point here that Baptist Camp is great: the food is immaculate (see, Marty and Craig, I'm using your big words!) we drink water, and if the beds are bad it's the parents' fault!! But you don't get enough sleep!

Hmmm...

I'm just recovering from a week away at Baptist Youth Camp which was brilliant but exhausting. I will write some more about it soon, but as I'm driving to Coleraine and back twice this week, I will maybe leave it until next week. I will also put up whichever photos don't have children in them!

Well done to Dermo, the 'poem' below is actually from an Apple ad from 1997! I was surprised when I read that at at first because, well it was quite a skillful poem. I expected some comments about me being crazy...but...thanks for not writing that, people!

I think I'm going to post more poems because I found a good site that has a handful of really nice ones.

Paris Photos

Well I've finally mustered the energy to recount some things from Paris - I'm off work sick today (I know it sounds suspicious since I'm only back from my holidays, but I really am, I almost threw up in the shower!!). Some highlights from our trip:

Brian who wanted us to spend an hour in the park with him (we didn't by the way)

Antonio who made fun of my french but he said my name nice so he's forgiven

The old man on the train who was a source of all knowledge, showing us where Diana had her accident etc, but who then told us to 'have lots of white children' :-?

Our friends from America/Mexico who said we were the first girls they had met who didn't like to go clubbing

Sudden gusts of wind at Versailles which almost blew up my skirt - it took three of us to hold it down!!

Ok they were the funnies, now for some of my favourite places:

Versailles/Palace of Versailles. If you are in Paris for any more than a few days you HAVE to go here. The house is amazing (where the Treaty of Versailles was signed) but the gardens are the best. Versailles itself is also nice although we didn't see much of it. It takes a whole day but it's so worth it!

The top of the Eiffel Tower. I didn't like the journey on the lift much but the top was great, espcially the view. I don't understand why people propose up there though (aparently Tom Cruise did), I didn't find it that romantic, it was quite industrial looking! Romantic would be a cruise on the Seine (which we also did and it was fab too!)

The Metro. It's fantastic and so easy to use. We are now experts having taken at least two journeys a day so if you want to know how to use it, just ask me, Gayle or Lisa!

The Hobby Horses at Sacre Couer, they were just so old, and double-decker too!

Galleries Lafayette: our local department store was amazing. My favourite shop of all time, I spent most of my money there! To be honest our wee area (the Opera) was much better for shopping than the Champs Elysees (although you still have to go there for the experience). The Champs Elysees mainly consisted of cafes, car shops, cinemas, at the most 5 designer shops and about 6 or 7 shops like Virgin Megastores and Gap.

My other favourite shop was Sephora, a wee perfume/makeup/bodycare shop. When I say wee, it was actually massive (at least the Champs Elysee one was) and they sold every brand even Stila and such, but their own brand was the best, very reasonable as well!

Where I didn't like:

The restaurant where we ate on Sunday night, Lisa's chicken had blood in it and the waiter was very rude. I can't quite remember the name but I'll tell you where it is if you're going to Paris - avoid it like the plague!

Climbing up to the dome of the Sacre Couer. Don't attempt if you dislike any of the following: narrow enclosed spaces, winding staircases, dark places, dusty places, grafitti, spiders. To be fair i didn't actually see any spiders but it will be your constant thought if you are scared of them. I almost had a panic attack on the way up i think, and the stairs just kept going up and up! The view from the top was good and I took the time to recover and take some photos before running back down!!

Our Fantastic Holiday

I just got home from Paris yesterday, it was amazing! There's too much really to write about in my blog but I'm sure I'll tell you all about it when I'm talking to you! The plan is to put all our photos together and create a joint flickr site about our Paris trip (with captions!), so I will let you know when that's up and running. I'll put a wee taster photo up here tho!

Ok, so this is actually being posted on 14 June but just to keep things in chronological order (that's a big word for my blog!) AND SO THE PARIS STUFF GETS AT THE TOP, I put this date on it!! So here we go, the photos from our wee birthday North Coast trip:

You might not be able to see it but I'm wearing the sparkly thing from our icecream in my hair! This was saturday night in Morellis, was far too cold and windy to go near a beach!!

I really enjoyed my icecream sundae, even though I only ate a third of it!!

This wee dog was so funny! We had stopped in Cushendun after navigating Torr Head (not as scary as people made it out for the first half of the journey, but there were some hairy moments when passing cars on a hill later on!). Anyway the pooch trotted alongside us as we were driving out of the harbour, the poor wee thing was struggling to keep speed with the car but it kept going till the end of the road. Bless!

Girls on Tour

I was in portrush at the weekend. I FORGOT MY CAMERA!! So will have to wait until lisa and kerry send me their photos and then I will post photos and related stories!

Because I had to write an essay this weekend, I went a bit mad with my camera (go figure). I just thot I'd post some of my photos for the fun of it!

And, just to prove I have a colour camera...

I didn't want to make a big deal of this...but...I'M 21 NOW!!!! As of last thursday I became a proper grown up. Just don't expect miracles where maturity is concerned. ;)

I went out for dinner on Friday night with my family to Tony Romas. The food was amazing, I even tried a rib and it was nice! But the cheesecake...ooh it was to die for, but please don't, cos I love you people really! Here's some pictures, I'm afraid you'll have to be content with looking at me, because noone else would let me put the pictures on the web!!
